About the Product
The BLOCKsignalling BOD2-NS is a low-cost infra-red train detector designed to indicate the presence of trains anywhere on a model railway layout. Manufactured in the UK by BLOCKsignalling, the module is engineered to provide realistic operation with ruggedness and long-term reliability, ensuring dependable performance over many years of use.
Using reflected infra-red (IR) light, the BOD2-NS detects trains as they pass over the sensor without the need for track isolation or an external light source. This makes it ideal for installation in tunnels, hidden sections of track, or scenic areas. When a train crosses the sensor, the module changes its output state to indicate train presence.
Two LED outputs and a small relay output can be connected. Under normal conditions, one LED is illuminated to indicate “no train present.” When a train is detected, this LED is extinguished and the second LED illuminates. If a relay is connected, it energises at the same time. These indicators can be mounted on a control panel to provide a clear visual indication that a train has crossed the sensor.
The module can be programmed to reset immediately once the train has cleared the sensor, making it ideal for uncoupling manoeuvres, or to reset after a delay to provide realistic track occupancy indication.

Compatibility Information
The BOD2-NS can be powered from 12V to 25V DC, 12V to 16V AC, or by direct connection to the DCC bus. It is suitable for use on both analogue and digital layouts of all scales. Relay, LEDs, and wiring are not included.
